Personal Experience

Upon graduating from the University of Miami with a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Derek joined Bertram Yacht where he oversaw the design and installation of mechanical systems on all yachts. After several years in the industry, he shifted his focus to sustainability and resilience – consulting for municipalities, companies, NGOs, and startups with a focus on efficiency optimization. 

Joining the GEM team in 2018, Derek has employed his areas of expertise, which stem from a deep-root passion for efficiency. Encompassing engineering, project management, analytics, and customer relations, his holistic solutions seek to bolster more dynamic and long-lasting results for operations and overall company health.
